松岡真由子・国際学部専任講師が，2024年1月3日～1月7日に，アメリカ合衆国ハワイ州ホノルル市で開催されたThe 9th IAFOR International Conference on Education – Hawaiiにおいて，ストーリーテリングを活用した自己調整英語学習をテーマに発表を行いました。The 9th IAFOR International Conference on Education – Hawaiiは，様々な国や文化，言語的背景を持つ研究者がハワイ・ホノルルに集まり，新しい研究の発表や意見交換を行う国際学会です。教育のあらゆる分野で活躍する講演者や参加者が交流し，最新の概念や最新のアプローチをめぐる挑戦的な討論や刺激的な議論が行われます。4つの大陸で開催され，100カ国以上から年間2,000人以上の参加者が集まる大規模な国際学会です。松岡専任講師の発表では，従来の自己調整学習研究とは異なる着眼点が注目を集めました。「英語学習者の学習行動の変化には学習者の認知的気づきが重要である」という立場から，物語説得理論や自己の振り返りの効果など教育心理学の知見を応用している点で，松岡専任講師の研究は評価されました。特に英語学習者の自己調整学習のみならず，英語のリーディングスキル等の向上も示されたことから，今後の英語教育に大きく貢献することが期待されます。
Assistant Professor, Mayuko Matsuoka, School of International Studies Gives Presentation on Self-regulated English language learning with storytelling approaches at The 9th IAFOR International Conference on Education – Hawaii, which was held from January 3rd to 7th in Honolulu, Hawaii, the USA.  IICE stands out as a prominent international conference held across four continents, attracting an annual attendance of over 2,000 individuals from 100+ countries, encompassing diverse cultures, and linguistic backgrounds.

During the conference, Ms. Matsuoka distinguished herself by presenting groundbreaking research that diverged from traditional studies on self-regulated learning. Her presentation garnered significant attention for its unique focus on the crucial role of learners' cognitive awareness in influencing substantive changes in English learners' behavior.

Ms. Matsuoka's research, which integrated insights from educational psychology, including narrative persuasion theory and the effects of self-reflection, received high praise. The study's distinctive contribution lies in its potential impact on the future of English language education, showcasing advancements not only in self-regulated learning but also in the enhancement of English reading skills and other capabilities among English language learners.
