第43回タイTESOL大会は、2024年1月26日から27日にかけて、タイのチェンマイにあるエンプレス・ホテルで開催された。大会のテーマは「Reconnecting ELT Professionals for Glocal Sustainability」。世界中の研究者から230以上の発表があり、特に日本の大学からの発表者が多かった。国際学部のIEFL、ロバート・アンドリュース氏は、パンデミック時のグループ・プロジェクトの指導と、オンライン・プラットフォームに合わせた授業内容の課題について発表した。グループ・プロジェクトでは、あまり知られていない革新的な企業について発表した。その結果、発表者は、地元の農家で栽培された大豆から作られたビーガンチーズを製造している地元の工場を訪問する機会を得て、その訪問をプレゼンテーションに取り入れた。
The 43rd Thailand TESOL Conference was held at the Empress Hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 26-27th January, 2024. the theme of the conference was "Reconnecting ELT Professionals for Glocal Sustainability". There were more than 230 presentations from researchers from all over the world, and a particularly large number of presenters from Japanese universities. Robert Andrews, IEFL of the School of International Studies, presented on the topic of teaching group projects during the pandemic, and the challenges of tailoring lesson content to online platforms. The group project involved presenting about innovative companies that were not well known. As a result, the presenter also took the opportunity to visit a local factory making vegan cheese sourced from soy grown by local farmers, and incorporated the visit into his presentation.
