ジヨーダン・ジヨシュワ ジョン博士（国際学部）は、ICOLLEC 2023（バリで行われた国際会議）において、言語教育の持続可能な発展（LESD）という新しい言語と持続可能な教育の分野について発表しました。ICOLLEC 2023は、2023年10月25日から10月27日までインドネシアのバリで開催されました。国際言語、文学、教育、文化に関する国際会議（ICOLLEC）は、文化研究学部のブラウィジャヤ大学が2021年に設立し、人文学、教育、芸術の分野でさまざまな科学的、批評的、実践的な考えを伝える学術的なフォーラムとして設立されました。50人以上の発表者が東南アジア、日本、アメリカ、カナダなど様々な国から集まり、発表や討論が行われました。会議には、持続可能性、言語教育、教室技術など、異なるバックグラウンドを持つ講演者が参加しました。ジョドワン博士は、LESDを紹介し、それを言語教室に統合してコミュニケーション能力を向上させると同時に、気候変動などの重要なグローバル課題に関する学生の価値観、信念、規範に挑戦する方法を説明しました。聴衆は熟考に富んだ興味深い質問を投げかけながら講演に参加しました。このイベントは、世界中の革新的な研究者と特に東南アジア地域の研究者との理解を共有し、つながりを作る素晴らしい機会でした。
Dr. Joshua Jodoin of the School of International Studies presented on Language Education for Sustainable Development (LESD), a new feild of langauge and sustainable education, at ICOLLEC 2023 in Bali. ICOLLEC 2023 was held from October 25 to October 27 in Bali, Indonesia. The International Conference on Language, Literature, Education, and Culture (ICOLLEC) was founded in 2021 by the Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas Brawijaya as an academic forum to convey various scientific, critical, and practical notions by opening dialogue in the fields of humanities, education, and the arts with an interdisciplinary perspective. Over 50 presenters from various countries in SE Asia, Japan, America, and Canada gathered to give presentations and hold discussions. The conference included speakers from diverse backgrounds including sustainability, language education, and classroom technologies. Dr. Jodoin introduced LESD and how it can be integrated into the language classroom to imrpove communicative language proficiency as well as challenge student's values, beliefs, and norms around major global issues like climate change. The audience engaged the speakers with thoughtful and interesting questions. The event was an exciting opportunity to share understandings and make connections with innovative researchers around the world and especially in the SE Asia region.
