髙村峰生・国際学部教授の論考が『中央公論』2025年7月号に掲載されました。髙村教授の研究は、トランプ政権下で副大統領を務めるJ・D・ヴァンスの2016年の著作、『ヒルビリー・エレジー』における「ヒルビリー」という概念について、読み解いたものです。著作の文体をテクスト読解によって読みとり、トランプ支持の深層を探る当論文は、髙村教授の近年のディストピア研究の成果の一端です。

Professor Mineo Takamura of the School of International Studies has published an article in the July 2025 issue of Chūō Kōron. His study offers a close reading of the concept of “hillbilly” as presented in Hillbilly Elegy, a 2016 memoir by J.D. Vance, who served as Vice President under the Trump administration. Through a textual analysis of the memoir’s style and narrative, the article explores the deeper layers of support for Trump. This work represents a part of Professor Takamura’s recent research on dystopian thought and literature.
