松宮園子・社会学部教授が、2025年7月5日から8日に、英国・ブライトンのサセックス大学で開催された第34回国際ヴァージニア・ウルフ学会 "Woolf and Dissidence" において、「ウルフとクリスティ：戦間期における悪についての2つの思考」をテーマに発表を行いました。本年の国際ヴァージニア・ウルフ学会は、20世紀英国を代表する作家ウルフの名作『ダロウェイ夫人』の出版100周年を記念するもので、世界各国から集まった約350名の研究者が発表を行い、参加者を交えて活溌な討議が行われると共に、基調講演、ワークショップやイベントが開催される大規模なものでした。松宮教授は、"Contemporaries 4" のセミナーのメンバーとして、グラスゴー大学の Bryony Randall 教授の司会のもと単独発表を行い、他3名のメンバー及びフロアと共に、ウルフと彼女の同時代人との関係性について活溌な議論を行いました。
Professor Matsumiya, School of Sociology and Graduate School of Language, Communicaion, and Culture, gave a presentation, "Woolf and Christie: Two Thoughts on Evil in the Interwar Years" , at the 34th Annual International Conference on Virginia Woolf, which was held from 5 to 8 July 2025 at University of Sussex in Brighton, UK.
About 350 presenters from all over the world gathered to give presentations and hold discussions. The conference included the special event, ‘Mrs. Dalloway at 100’, along with a number of workshops and seminars.
Professor Matsumiya read a paper which compares Woolf's gendered view on evil and violence with Christie’s and examines these two contemporary authors’ thoughts on evil in "Contemporaraies 4" seminar.
