IEFL, Kane Linton, Faculty of Engineering gave a presentation on the Rise of Artificial Intelligence in Foreign Language Education at the 42nd Thailand TESOL International Conference, which was held from January 27th to January 28th, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Thailand TESOL International Conference gathers TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) practitioners from a variety of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary fields to capture insightful English Language Teaching (ELT) research, pedagogies, materials and innovations for current and future endeavours in local and global contexts. hundreds of researchers from countries all over the world gathered to give presentations and hold discussions. The conference offered ample opportunities for researchers to exchange ideas, as well as providing fantastic workshops on all manner of pertinent topics such as collaboration for sustainable development, how to work effectively in pandemic-like situations, and implementing AI in English classrooms. Furthermore, attendees were treated to fantastic featured speakers and plenaries, such as Ann McAllen, who spoke on the topic of how to find balance in a post-pandemic world.

Kane Linton's study analysed user experiences of speech recognition systems (SRS) such as Siri and Google Speech Recognition, as well as chatbots such as Duolingo, Memrise, and Mondly. He then determined how educators can harness these tools for not only the benefit of their students but also to save time in the language class.
