Professor Takeshi Inoue of the Faculty of Law at Kwansei Gakuin University invited Professor Thierry Rambaud of Paris Cité University, France, to Kwansei Gakuin University under the International Joint Research Travel Expense Subsidy program. Professor Rambaud is a leading authority on religious law in France. During his visit, he participated in the 88th Conference on Religious Law held at the university. At the symposium titled "Recent Developments in the Principle of Laïcité in France," he delivered a presentation on "Trends in French Religious Law." Additionally, he gave a lecture titled "The Current State of the Principle of Separation of Church and State in France: The Law and Politics of Laïcité" at a special research seminar hosted by the Faculty of Law.

Kwansei Gakuin University and Paris Cité University have maintained academic collaboration, including co-hosting the Franco-Japanese Research Conference in February 2024 at Paris Cité University (Malakoff, France). The conference, titled Colloque franco-japonais: "A Legal Perspective on Religion in Liberal Democracies: Balancing the Neutrality of Public Authorities, the Protection of Fundamental Freedoms, the Management of Peaceful Coexistence, and the Protection of State Interests," was organized by Professors Thierry Rambaud and Takeshi Inoue.
