Professor Atsushi Kajii of the school of Economics delivered a presentation on the theme “Financial Market Equilibrium and Unexpected Income Transfers (Rich by Accident)” at the international conference The 2025 World Congress of the Econometric Society (ESWC 2025), held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from August 18 to 22, 2025.

The 2025 World Congress of the Econometric Society (ESWC 2025) is the quinquennial world congress organized by the international academic society Econometric Society (ES). It was convened with the aim of sharing the latest theoretical and empirical research findings in economics on a global scale and fostering scholarly exchange among researchers. Bringing together economists from universities and research institutions worldwide, the congress provided a forum for presenting cutting-edge research and discussing future directions of the discipline. According to the organizers, more than 2,300 researchers from over 61 countries participated, engaging in lively discussions across hundreds of presentations and sessions.

Throughout the congress, the most advanced research in theoretical, econometric, and applied fields was introduced, and participants engaged in multifaceted exchanges of ideas. The diversity of countries and regions represented made it possible to directly compare different research methods and perspectives, offering a rare and valuable opportunity. For Professor Kajii as well, the congress provided fresh insights and intellectual stimulation, making ESWC 2025 an exceptionally meaningful venue for international and interdisciplinary academic exchange.
