On August 1st to 5th, 2023, Professor Sadahiko Nakajima from the Faculty of Literature participated in the 56th International Applied Ethology Congress held in Tallinn, Estonia. His presentation focused on "Ingestion of kaolin, zeolite, bentonite, and lime by nauseated rats." This year's congress had 323 registered participants, consisting of scientists engaged in the study of behavior in livestock and laboratory animals. Attendees joined either in person or virtually, with 282 participants present at the physical venue. The participants represented over 40 countries worldwide. While many participants came from the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, and Canada, there were also attendees from countries including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mexico, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. The enthusiasm of the attendees and the quality of the scientific presentations and discussions were exceptionally high. Participants learned about significant themes and new topics in the field of animal behavior science, such as the scientific evaluation of animal welfare, establishing new connections, and sharing ideas.
