寺沢拓敬・社会学部准教授と牲川波都季・総合政策学部教授による、日本の第二言語教育研究の動向を対象とした批判的レビュー論文が、言語教育研究における国際的トップジャーナルである『Language Teaching』（Cambridge University Press）に掲載されました。
本論文は、2019年から2023年に日本で発表された第二言語（L2）教育研究を体系的に検討したものであり、英語教育と日本語教育という、日本のL2教育研究のニ大分野を対象に、およそ40本の重要研究を抽出・検討しました。
既存の学術トレンドや社会の動向を踏まえ、文法、言語テスト、教員の成長、外国人・移民、言語学習者のアイデンティティ、言語教育政策の6つのトピックに焦点をあて、日本のL2教育研究の特色・進展・課題を世界の言語教育研究者に向けて提示しました。
本論文は、言語教育研究の国際的な対話に貢献するとともに、今後の研究の方向性を示す重要な基盤となることが期待されます。

A critical review article co-authored by Associate Professor Takunori Terasawa (School of Sociology) and Professor Hazuki Segawa (School of Policy Studies) has been published in Language Teaching, a leading international journal in the field of language education research (Cambridge University Press).
The article provides a critical review of second language (L2) education research conducted in Japan between 2019 and 2023, covering the two major domains of English language teaching (ELT) and Japanese language teaching (JLT). Around 40 significant studies were selected and analysed based on rigorous screening criteria.
Drawing on recent academic trends and social developments, the review focuses on six key areas: grammar instruction, language testing, teacher professional development, foreign residents and immigration, learner identity, and language education policy. The paper highlights the distinctive features, developments, and challenges of L2 education research in Japan and presents them to an international audience of language education scholars.
This study aims to contribute to global conversations in language education research and to serve as a foundation for future work in the field.
