藤原伸介・生命環境学部教授の分岐構造を有するポリアミンを利用した核酸の回収・検出技術に関する研究成果が、「Branched-Chain Polyamine Beads for Sensitive Recovery and Detection of Low-Copy DNA in Aqueous Solutions」というタイトルでJournal of Biotechnologyに掲載されました。藤原伸介教授の研究は、90℃以上で生育する超好熱菌が有する分岐鎖ポリアミンの核酸に対する高い結合活性に注目したものです。分岐鎖ポリアミンを磁性ビーズに固定し、溶液中のごく微量なDNAを回収し、PCR法で検出することに成功しました。本技術は病原菌やウイルスの検出や、土壌微生物の種類を調べる土壌診断、犯罪捜査の犯人のDNA検出などに応用が期待されます。

On 12 June 2025, the results of research by Professor, Shinsuke Fujiwara, School of Biological and Environmental Sciences on ”Branched-Chain Polyamine Beads for Sensitive Recovery and Detection of Low-Copy DNA in Aqueous Solutions” were published in Journal of Biotechnology. Professor Shinsuke Fujiwara's research focuses on the strong nucleic acid-binding activity of branched-chain polyamines found in hyperthermophilic microorganisms that thrive at temperatures above 90°C. By immobilizing these branched-chain polyamines on magnetic beads, his team successfully developed a method to recover trace amounts of DNA from aqueous solutions and detect them using PCR. This technology holds great promise for a wide range of applications, including the detection of pathogens and viruses, soil diagnostics to analyze microbial communities, and forensic DNA analysis in criminal investigations.
